A fact you'll already be aware of if you picked up on Jus and Orko's last album. 'Imperial Letters Of Protection' is thirteen tracks of hardcore intelligent ultra political rap that aims some very serious accusations at the door of the current U.S. government. The music here is seriously bugged out, intense kinetic and very dangerous. As far removed from what today's mainstream hip hop scene is as you can imagine but if I heard this twenty years ago it would have scared me half to death. One of the most important hip hop albums of the year, needed listening for the brave.

i don't think it's possible to select a favorite track from this record, so many of them affect me so strongly and in such different ways. the thing they all share, though, is this piercing reflective thoughtfulness. if the closest i can get to understanding truth is just listening to R.A.P. search for it in his own life, i think i'd be ok with that Naomi Alterman
